CUBA

We were able to hold a pastor’s conference at the Methodist Church in Havana. We then drove three hours to Santa Clara to hold a youth leader’s conference. Most of the youth traveled anywhere from 10-22 hours standing up in the back of old cattle trucks, in the rain, to come to this camp for three days and then to do it all again to return home.

We saw the Holy Spirit speak boldly through us. There is nothing like being a part of sharing God's truth to equip and train people to live the abundant Christian life - right now. To be a part of showing that we have a God that loves us with an everlasting love. To be a part of sharing that no matter what your circumstance is that you can live a contented, fulfilled and hopeful life in Christ.

As we boldly preached and taught the Word of God, the Cuban people soaked it up like sponges and took many notes in the seminars. Here are a few of the comments we received:

One pastor told us that he wished he had this material 10 years ago and it would have saved them so many problems.

A lady came up to us after every talk, telling us how much this material had helped her and others. She said we would never know the full impact of our teaching and thanked us over and over for bringing these truths to them.

We had another man come up and asked for any material we could give him. He was excited to share these truths with the teens in his church. He also asked us to pray for him. He said it is so hard being a Christian in Cuba.

God provided a very special time for our team as we were asked to go to a home church to minister. We arrived at the house - realizing this was the lady that came up to us after every talk sharing how our material was touching and changing their lives. Only God could have worked this out. We each shared our testimonies, we worshiped God together and had a wonderful blessed time of fellowship. Upon leaving this home we were given Spanish New Testaments.

These Bibles were just what we needed. As soon as the hotel staff found out we were Christians they started asking us for Bibles. At our hotel the maids were asking us for Bibles but we did not have any - until this lady gave us Bibles. Because of her generosity, we were able to give our maids and other hotel workers Bibles. God was always providing!

We saw God sustain us and provide for us the entire time. We saw people's lives changed by God allowing us to tell others that our hope comes from a personal relationship with Him not from our circumstances. For a trip that started out being so uncertain with having problems with obtaining our religious visas to hearing that this was the worst time for Americans to be going into Cuba - we held fast to our God and He delivered. He showed each team member that as we rely fully on Him - He will meet our every need, He would speak through us boldly and He showed us His Word never comes back void.

Praise God for what He did in the lives of the Cuban people and how blessed we are for getting to be a part of it!
