Man has a heart problem – a bad heart. When the heart is wrong worship is wrong. Now we have seen that God created man primarily as an instrument of worship – and worship he does. In fact, it is automatic for man to worship. Unfortunately though, man left to his own devices tends always worship that which he creates.

Let me tell you the whole worship thing had become absolutely impossible. Either man was worshipping rocks or trees, or birds and bees. So Jesus had to come to straighten out the whole worship mess. "God," Jesus said, "is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:24)

Jesus took one look at the situation and knew He had to start with the basic cause of the problem – man. Man O man, was man a mess! He had a terminal heart problem – a heart transplant was the only answer. So He set about giving us a new heart – the transplant occurs when we receive Jesus. (Ezekiel 36:26) Incredible!

O my though, a new heart needs a new temple. So Jesus set about cleansing the temple – and does it need a thorough cleaning. "By the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit." (Titus 3:5) "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you." (John 15:3)Now that Jesus has washed our faces and scrubbed our ears, as it were, we are ready to go to school. This is necessary for we Christians don’t really know or understand this thing of worship very well. Lot of confusion here.

History shows that worship is more than mere adulation. It is a basic need of man – an innate drive. Man must worship. But as you well know, there is right worship and wrong worship.

There is an awfully lot of wrong worship in the world today. The Muslims follow an ogre of worship, praying five times a day facing Mecca. But the God they worship is the god of Mohammed, not the God of the Bible.

Jesus pointed out the problem when he spoke with the woman at the well – He said, "You worship that which you do not know." There it is, you must know whom you worship.

God has looked at your heart and deemed it worthy to be a vessel of worship. What an honor! Do you worship? Are you taking time to worship? Are you certain of what you are worshipping? Come to Jesus, He will instruct you in worship.
