This is the result of a challenge issued by a very godly, older man who has been in the ministry for 40 years. He challenged us to do a study in the New Testament of the “one another” passages. I did that study and came up with quite a list of ways God calls us to relate to each other. The study made a real impact in my life and I hope that it will in yours as well. I would encourage you to look up the Scriptures in your Bible and see how God may want you to apply them to your circumstances in life.
Paul certainly gives us an example of something else we are to do for "one another." He shows us through his letters to give thanks for each other and pray for each other. In these verses, he is writing to five different churches and one individual. It is clear that Paul makes it a habit to thank God for people in the body of Christ. How many of us remember to offer thanks for others in the body of believers that we know and love? How important that is to the Christian life! I’m so thankful for the people who take time to offer my name and requests up to our Lord! I am thankful for their continuing encouragement to me, my family and my ministry. I would not continue in this ministry if I did not believe that they were praying for me. For whom is it in your life that you need to offer thanks up to God? Who has invested time in you? Who has offered you guidance and wisdom? Who has listened to you through painful times and loved you no matter what you do? Who has been patient and kind to you when you deserved it the least? Spend some time thanking God for those people in your life. And spend some time thanking them. It is important for you to express it for your benefit and for theirs. © 1998, Scope Ministries International, Inc.
